SONY IMX294 Color CMOS Sensor
IMX294, the back-illuminated CMOS sensor, adopts the 4/3” format with 4.63 um pixel size and provides 11.7megapixels for 4144X2822 output. 14-bit ADC– giving high dynamic range of 13 stops and an impressive 63ke- full well capacity, helping to reduce the issue of, for example, saturated stars. All those make SV405CC perfect for deep-sky objects imaging.
Quantum Efficiency
Anti Amp Glow
SV405CC is of amp glow suppression technology, which greatly reduces amp glow when doing long exposures. The anti-amp-glow image is shot at exposure of 1000s.
(PS: IMX294 is not a zero-amp-glow sensor, and it is the camera’s amp glow suppression technology that helps greatly reduce amp glow.)
TEC Cooling System
With the two-stage TEC cooling, SV405CC can lower the CMOS sensor temperature to 30 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature, which can greatly reduce dark current and sensor noise even during longer exposure time. And please note that, for a longer lifespan, please set the cooling time for at least 3 minutes.
Low Readout Noise at HCG Mode
Built-in HCG mode, which can effectively reduce readout noise at high gain, so that the camera maintains the same wide dynamic range as at low gain. When the gain is 120, the HCG mode is automatically turned on, the readout noise is as low as 1.2e, and the dynamic range can still reach a level close to 14bit. The parameter settings are also different depending on your shooting target. Turn down the gain, the dynamic range will become larger, suitable for long exposures. Increase the gain, the readout noise will be further reduced, which is suitable for short exposure or lucky imaging.
DDR3 Buffer 256M & USB 3.0
The SV405CC features a USB 3.0 data transmission interface and a built-in 256MB (2Gb) DDR3 high-speed memory to buffer image data to ensure stable data transmission. And it can effectively reduce the amp glow caused by slow readout speed.
Operating System
SV405CC camera works with Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Chrome OS and Raspberry Pi systems by running AstroDMx Capture.
For Windows system, Also support Sharpcap, N.I.N.A., TheSkyX and other software run through ASCOM platform by using ASCOM driver.
Supports ROI
A smaller region of interest (ROI) is read out from the sensor, leaving the image scale of the object being imaged, unchanged. Allow arbitrary resolutions to be set. Besides that increases the images’ fps (frames per second) .
Supports BIN1, BIN2, BIN3, BIN4
Support binning 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, which are effective for framing and focusing targets. The larger pixels gather light much faster, so the camera is more sensitive to reveal faint nebula and galaxies in shorter exposures.
Suitable for 1.25”, 2”, M42, M48
SV405CC threads are M42*0.75. And here comes with adapters and rings which make the camera suited for standard 1.25”, 2” M42, M48”.
